CBHerman - Think Outside the Box: Trial of Google BARD - Differences in Construction - US/EU - June 15, 2023

Differences Between Construction in the United States and the European UnionThe construction industry is a major economic driver in both the United States and the European Union. In 2021, the construction industry contributed $1.7 trillion to the U.S. economy and $1.4 trillion to the EU economy.
Despite the similarities between the two industries, there are also some key differences. Here are a few of the most notable differences:
Materials
One of the biggest differences between construction in the United States and the European Union is the materials that are used. In the United States, concrete and steel are the most common materials used in construction. In the European Union, wood is a more common material, especially in residential construction.
Regulations
The construction industry is heavily regulated in both the United States and the European Union. However, the regulations vary between the two regions. In the United States, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) sets safety regulations for the construction industry. In the European Union, the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA) sets safety regulations.
Labor
The construction industry is a major employer in both the United States and the European Union. However, the labor force in the two industries is different. In the United States, the construction industry is dominated by small businesses. In the European Union, the construction industry is dominated by large, multinational companies.
Technology
The construction industry is increasingly using technology to improve efficiency and productivity. However, the adoption of technology varies between the two regions. In the United States, the construction industry is slower to adopt new technology than the European Union.
Sustainability
The construction industry is a major contributor to climate change. Both the United States and the European Union are committed to reducing the environmental impact of the construction industry. However, the two regions are taking different approaches to sustainability. In the United States, the focus is on voluntary measures, such as LEED certification. In the European Union, the focus is on mandatory measures, such as energy performance certificates.
These are just a few of the key differences between construction in the United States and the European Union. The two industries are constantly evolving, so it is important to stay up-to-date on the latest trends.
